“'Hear My Prayer' is
absolutely beautiful... It brought tears to my eyes. I look forward to my parents hearing it, as I know they too will love hearing these beautiful hymns. 'Nearer My God To Thee' is especially gorgeous and I find myself singing along with it." |
"One afternoon while I was 'surfing' the Internet, I let my mind wander to recent, disappointing
events in the world, and in my life, and I became very sad. The more I thought about these things, the sadder and more depressed I became. All of a sudden, almost as though I was looking for something, my eyes wandered to a stack of papers on my computer desk. In that stack of papers, I spied a new CD, which I had been given for Christmas, called, 'Hear My Prayer' by Cliff Bemis. I put it in my player right away. As I listened, I could feel myself looking forward to the next selection, and the next, feeling calmer with each beautifully arranged song. After listening to the entire CD, I felt myself ready to go about the rest of my day without feeling so sad and depressed. Now, I start my day by listening to “Hear My Prayer.” |

For several years now, I have been trying to find a way to honor the men and women of the California Highway Patrol. While I have the highest regard for all who enter the field of law enforcement and the fire service, I have grown particularly close with the CHP. The death of my friend, CHP Officer Bruce T. Hinman, in 1995 was devastating to his family and friends. And so to remember Bruce, and to honor the officers of the CHP who work every day protecting citizens across our state, I wrote and performed "The Badge of the CHP" and have officially donated it to the California Highway Patrol.

"Cliff...today I received my copy of your song.
As a retired Lieutenant, I sat and listened while drinking my morning coffee and tears came to my eyes. After pinning on that badge for over 22 years, I never realized how much I loved doing that. Your tribute to Bruce Hinman and to the men and women of the CHP is nothing less than fantastic. Thank you very much." |
"I retired from the CHP in 1994, and I thought I
never would be emotional about anything concerning the CHP, but your song 'The Badge of the CHP' actually brought tears to my eyes. It is a great song and I and everyone that is currently on the CHP and those that are retired from the CHP can't thank you enough for your recording of this song. Thank you very much:" |
"I wish to thank you for
your new CD 'The Badge of the CHP.' I have played it several times and find it very touching!! It makes me Proud to be a CHP Officer." |

"I, as a mother of a CHP officer, wanted you to know the words you wrote are true and touched the very
essence of who these men are. We raise these sons to respect their elders, have a sense of strength and pride in themselves and who they are. When they grow up, they seek that which seems to honor their teaching and I cannot tell you how filled with pride I am of this boy who became a man who wears that badge. I am not sure he knows it, but he has honored me his professional choice and my pride goes beyond words." |
|
"I want to thank you
for your wonderful new CD 'The Badge of the CHP.' I play it over and over. Even though I am kind of a 'stiff upper lip' kind of guy, I get a lump in my throat, and tears in my eyes listening to it." |
"I am sending you my most deepest
thanks, even though my gratitude pales by what joy your song has given me. My son came home for Christmas, presented me with the gift of your beautiful song. As it played, I took my son in my arms and we danced while listening to your moving words. It was difficult for me to hold all the tears back." |
"I do not have many
opportunities to hold my son in my arms anymore so I thank you for 'the moment' I was able to share with my son this Christmas. I also thanked God for you and your song" |
"I recently received a copy of
your song, 'The Badge of the CHP.' I was and am, every time I play it moved by it. I am retired from the CHP, since 1980 with a on duty injury. I want to thank you for this song. It brought back a lot of pride I use to have for the job. Thanks." |
