About a year ago, I was asked to attend a camping weekend on the Kern River in Kern County, Ca., for men, women and children, who have suffered from being burned by fire, chemicals or industrial accidents. What an amazing experience. I met burn survivors and members of their families, as well as others who volunteer their time and effort in bringing fire and burn awareness to the public, as well as help and relief to victims. During that weekend, I also met several firefighters from the S. California area, who have founded the "Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors." This group was born out of a tragedy which happened to Bill Jensen and Scott French, two Glendale firefighters who were severely burned in the Malibu fires in 1996. While the men survived and are doing well, the physical and emotional scars will be with them forever.

It is the desire of everyone associated with "Quest," to bring awareness, education and burn prevention information to the public, as well as to raise funds for various burn centers and burn victims. Please visit the "Quest" web site to find out more about the organization and to make a donation. Any amount will be appreciated.

After the death of my good friend CHP Officer Bruce T. Hinman, I have been privileged to be a part of an organization which helps California Highway Patrol officers and their families in time of need. This well established organization is one which works closely with the CHP in identifying officers who need financial assistance for various reasons. And over the years, have provided millions of dollars in aid. I am pleased to be a Lifetime Member in the CHP 11-99 Foundation, and ask that you consider them in your annual giving.
